Ohm Connect Energy Reduction Program

How it works

Sign up with OhmConnect and implement either automated (smart thermostat or smart devices) or manual electricity use reductions in your home when the grid needs it most, early evening and certain events (like heat, etc.).

IN TURN, each household gets paid for each energy reduction that takes loads off of the grid. Utilities would rather pay customers when the demand is so high (and they need to put new gas power plants in line just to cover that short period of excess demand) and they pay some of that money back to customers who are signed up with OhmConnect.

These can be cash awards, or prizes, etc. No one is going to get rich from this, but you'll save on your utility bill and you get paid a little. And many customers doing a small thing like that translates into LOTS of megaWatthours avoided. Which of course reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

This is an example of a "virtual power plant" since the most efficient energy is the energy you don't use.
