CARB Zero Emission Appliance Standards Listening Sessions
SERi will host listening sessions to understand public perspectives on proposed regulations.
INTRODUCTION
The California Air Resources Board (CARB), consistent with Agreement 22STC011 between CARB and California State University Sacramento, (Sacramento State), Sacramento State is executing agreements with individuals and organizations serving as “Public Experts”. This effort is in support of CARB work to develop Zero-Emission Space and Water Heater Standards for California, in accordance with the 2022 State Strategy for the State Implementation Plan (SIP).
OBJECTIVE
Sierra Energy Reimagined (SERi) will provide its expertise by co-hosting three listening session events to support CARB staff’s efforts to develop zero-emission space and water heater standards. CPC will also interact with staff from Sacramento State, who are contracted with CARB to provide support for public engagement activities.
The event will be designed to help CARB improve its understanding of public perspectives on proposed regulatory action, and the diverse regional and local contexts within which any adopted regulation would be implemented. Listening sessions are intended to be collaborative, focused, safe spaces wherein all participants have opportunities to provide input and be informed about the topics at hand.
EVENT DESCRIPTION
SERi will host three listening sessions to solicit perspectives from a diverse cross section of Nevada County residents on the proposed CARB staff zero emission space and water heater standards. SERi will partner with other organizations in Nevada County and neighboring Yuba County to support event logistics, venues, outreach, and programming.
